It is recommended to perform breast ultrasound prophylactically for women from age 20, every 6-12 months depending on age and detected changes. If a young woman feels certain lumps in her breasts, it is necessary to visit even at a younger age.  <\/p><h4><strong>How is the breast ultrasound procedure performed? <\/strong><\/h4><p>The patient is placed on a couch, and a special gel that enhances the transmission of ultrasound waves is applied to the breasts. The doctor moves the transducer over the surface of the breasts while observing the breast tissue for changes on the ultrasound screen. <\/p><h4><strong>Is the breast ultrasound procedure painful?<\/strong><\/h4><p>It is a painless examination. Only a sensation of cold from the applied gel is possible. <\/p><h4><strong>What is a breast puncture (biopsy)?<\/strong><\/h4><p>Breast puncture is the collection of cells from a suspicious breast lesion using a thin needle. The aspirated cells are sent to a laboratory for histological examination. Breast puncture is not painful.
