Oncogynecological ultrasound<\/strong> is an ultrasound examination designed to assess the condition of a woman’s reproductive system organs: uterus, endometrium, ovaries, pelvis. This examination is particularly important for early detection of possible formations or other changes that may affect health or fertility. <\/p>

When is oncogynecological ultrasound recommended?<\/h4>

This examination is recommended if:<\/p>

\u2714 <\/strong>you experience heavy or irregular bleeding<\/strong>,<\/p>

\u2714 <\/strong>you have painful or prolonged menstruation<\/strong>,<\/p>

\u2714 <\/strong>fibroids, cysts, or polyps are suspected or already known,<\/p>

\u2714 <\/strong>there have been previous pregnancy or endometrial changes<\/strong>,<\/p>

\u2714 <\/strong>you have an increased risk of oncological diseases<\/strong>,<\/p>

\u2714 <\/strong>you notice changes after menopause<\/strong> \u2013 such as bleeding or discomfort.<\/p>

When is the best time to perform the examination?<\/h4>

To obtain the most accurate result, we recommend performing a gynecological ultrasound on the 5th\u201310th day of the menstrual cycle<\/strong>, when the endometrium is thinnest. After menopause, the examination can be performed on any day when concerning symptoms appear. <\/p>

What can oncogynecological ultrasound reveal?<\/h4>

\u2714 Endometriosis<\/strong> \u2013 when the endometrium grows outside the uterus, causing pain, infertility, or other symptoms.

\u2714 Fibroids<\/strong> \u2013 benign uterine muscle formations that may affect menstrual flow or fertility.

\u2714 Endometrial or cervical polyps<\/strong> \u2013 mucosal overgrowths that may cause bleeding or discomfort.

\u2714 Ovarian cysts, formations<\/strong> \u2013 their origin, size, and risk factors are assessed.

\u2714 <\/strong>\u202fStructural or mucosal changes<\/strong> that may require further examination or biopsy.

\u2714 Assessment of changes after PAP or CinTec\u00ae PLUS tests<\/strong> \u2013 if test results indicate possible cervical changes, ultrasound helps to assess whether further tests or monitoring are needed.<\/p>

Linas Andreika works at the Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Clinics Gynecology Department<\/strong>, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant female genital tumors<\/strong>. He also actively practices endometriosis diagnostics<\/strong>, minimally invasive surgery<\/strong>, and removal of uterine and ovarian formations<\/strong>. <\/p>\n
