Oncogynecological Ultrasounds: Comprehensive Women's Health Assessment
Oncogynecological ultrasound is an ultrasound examination designed to assess the condition of a woman’s reproductive system organs: uterus, endometrium, ovaries, pelvis. This examination is particularly important for early detection of possible formations or other changes that may affect health or fertility.
When is oncogynecological ultrasound recommended?
This examination is recommended if:
✔ you experience heavy or irregular bleeding,
✔ you have painful or prolonged menstruation,
✔ fibroids, cysts, or polyps are suspected or already known,
✔ there have been previous pregnancy or endometrial changes,
✔ you have an increased risk of oncological diseases,
✔ you notice changes after menopause – such as bleeding or discomfort.
When is the best time to perform the examination?
To obtain the most accurate result, we recommend performing a gynecological ultrasound on the 5th–10th day of the menstrual cycle, when the endometrium is thinnest. After menopause, the examination can be performed on any day when concerning symptoms appear.
What can oncogynecological ultrasound reveal?
✔ Endometriosis – when the endometrium grows outside the uterus, causing pain, infertility, or other symptoms.
✔ Fibroids – benign uterine muscle formations that may affect menstrual flow or fertility.
✔ Endometrial or cervical polyps – mucosal overgrowths that may cause bleeding or discomfort.
✔ Ovarian cysts, formations – their origin, size, and risk factors are assessed.
✔ Structural or mucosal changes that may require further examination or biopsy.
✔ Assessment of changes after PAP or CinTec® PLUS tests – if test results indicate possible cervical changes, ultrasound helps to assess whether further tests or monitoring are needed.
This examination is important not only for diagnosis but also for prevention – especially if you want to take care of your health before planning a pregnancy or if there is a family history of oncological diseases.
